Collins Sefa The President of the Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE), Davies Narh Korboe, has called for the horticulture sector to be a key beneficiary of Ghana’s much-anticipated 24-Hour Economy.
Horticulture at the Heart of Transformation
He made these remarks at the launch of the Ghana Horticulture Expo 2025, held at the Accra International Conference Centre on June 11, 2025.
Korboe described the Expo as “a grand orchestra of ideas and enterprise”—bringing together farmers, processors, regulators, innovators, and policy makers to drive growth and transformation in the sector.
The theme for this year’s Expo, “Innovate, Transform, Sustain: Driving Growth in Ghana’s Horticulture Sector”, underscores the industry’s potential to align with continental trade goals and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“It’s a call to move from potential into purposeful action. The Expo is a fruit of years of missions, partnerships, and initiatives aimed at putting Ghana’s agricultural products on the world map,” Korboe explained.
Unlocking Economic Opportunities
He stressed that this is more than just selling food and produce; it’s about securing a future rich in opportunity and prosperity. The global agriculture market is projected to be worth $320 billion by 2030, and Ghana must be ready to take its share by offering premium, traceable, and ethically sourced products.
To maximize these opportunities, Korboe insisted policy, energy, technology, and education must align to create a 24-hour business ecosystem. “This will increase output, create high-paying jobs, and enhance Ghana’s competitiveness on the world stage. FAGE is ready to lead this movement, from soil to shelf, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
A Movement to Harvest Prosperity
He called for a collective effort to harvest not just produce but prosperity, adding: “Let’s plan with purpose, process with price, and grow with unity.”
Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama announced the official start of the 24-Hour Economy flagship program on 1st July 2025, marking a key milestone in transforming Ghana’s agricultural and economic future.
