Tech Expert Supports Trump’s Aid Suspension, Calls for African Self-Reliance

The Trump administration’s suspension of U.S. foreign aid, including USAID funding, has raised concerns among African policymakers, as the continent heavily relies on humanitarian support. Nigeria, for instance, received $2.75 billion from USAID over three years, with total U.S. aid to Africa averaging $8 billion annually.

However, Agboade, a tech expert and pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC), Lagos, argues that the aid suspension is a wake-up call for Africa. Preaching on ‘Seeing Beyond the Now’, he criticized African leaders’ lack of foresight, stating that reliance on aid stifles progress.

He emphasized that self-reliance and vision are key to Africa’s development, warning that “those who wait for crumbs will always be slaves to those with vision.”
