Review Cost of Data in Ghana – Sam George

The Government of Ghana is set to establish an inter-ministerial committee within the next 14 days to address the high cost of data, according to the Minister of Communications, Samuel Nartey George.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile, the minister stated that the Communications Ministry has already begun the process, with the goal of reducing data costs or improving value offerings before the end of the year.

The committee will include representatives from key institutions such as:

  • Ministries of Communication, Digital Technology & Innovation, Energy, and Finance
  • National Communications Authority (NCA)
  • Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC)
  • Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications
  • National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS)
  • Association of Content Creators

Sam George assured that policy decisions will be made in consultation with stakeholders, particularly telecom operators and industry regulators, to ensure a balanced and effective approach.
