Hollard Ghana Supports Student Entrepreneurship with GHC70,000 in Seed Funding

Student entrepreneurship in Ghana continues to thrive with support from corporate leaders like Hollard Ghana. Through its subsidiaries, Hollard Insurance and Hollard Life, the company awarded a total of GHC70,000 in seed funding at the just-ended Hollard Streetwise Finance Business Challenge, held at the University of Ghana, Legon.

The competition featured 10 student entrepreneurs from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC). Each presented their startup ideas to a panel of industry judges in a bid to secure funding to grow their ventures.

After a highly competitive round of pitches, Vette Multiple Test Kits emerged as the overall winner. The startup focuses on producing user-friendly diagnostic test kits for five common vaginal infections. For their innovative work in women’s healthcare, the team was awarded GHC40,000 to scale their business.

The second-place prize of GHC20,000 went to Toudeka Palm Oil Enterprise, a brand known for its FDA-approved and hygienically produced palm oil. Kriblink, a startup tackling student accommodation challenges with digital solutions, secured the third-place spot with GHC10,000 in funding.

In a strong show of inclusivity, five visually impaired students from UGBS and UCC were also honored with cash prizes, celebrating their entrepreneurial spirit and participation.

Championing the Next Generation of Business Leaders

According to Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo, Group Head of Marketing, Corporate Affairs and Customer Experience at Hollard Ghana, the event is more than just a funding opportunity—it’s a long-term investment in Ghana’s youth.

“Through our Streetwise Finance initiative under the Hollard X Academia platform, we are equipping the next generation with financial literacy, business confidence, and real-world experience,” she said. “We’re incredibly proud of the students. Their passion and creativity reflect the future of Ghana’s business landscape.”

She also highlighted that beyond funding, winners will benefit from mentorship and access to Hollard’s business network, giving them vital tools to sustain and grow their ventures.

A Platform for Real-World Learning

Professor George Acheampong, Director of the UGBS Innovation and Incubation Hub, praised the Hollard partnership for adding practical value to academic learning.

“This collaboration empowers our students to apply entrepreneurial knowledge in real, impactful ways,” he said. “It validates their ideas and prepares them to become future changemakers.”

Celebrating Innovation and Resilience

Christiana Asamoah, founder of Vette Multiple Test Kits, shared her gratitude:

“Winning this challenge is a dream come true. With this funding, we can expand our production and reach more customers. We are deeply grateful to Hollard Ghana and our mentors who guided us throughout this journey.”

The challenge also featured other impressive student-led ventures, including Jesparks Foods, Mawie Foods, Farmligo, Cash Aid, Abijah Cosmetics, Stalwarts Business Hub, and Abe Farm. Each brought unique ideas addressing issues in health, food production, student financing, and agriculture.
