BTA2023 The Republic of Ghana has announced the suspension of its diplomatic ties with the so-called “SADR.”
This decision was formally communicated in an official letter from Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco.
Ghana has indicated that it will promptly notify the Government of Morocco, the African Union, and the United Nations of this position through diplomatic channels.
In the same official correspondence, Ghana expressed its support for the “genuine efforts” made by the Kingdom of Morocco to find a solution that is mutually acceptable to all parties involved.
Ghana had initially recognized the so-called “SADR” in 1979.
Since the active engagement of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in addressing the Moroccan Sahara issue, 46 countries, including 13 African nations, have either cut or suspended their relations with the so-called “SADR” since 2000.
