BTA2023 The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) has taken another step toward strengthening Ghana’s startup and small business ecosystem following a strategic engagement with the Venture Capital Trust Fund (VCTF) aimed at expanding financing support for entrepreneurs.
The Chief Executive Officer of NEIP, Eric Adjei, accompanied by his deputy and the programme’s management team, met with officials of the VCTF to explore deeper collaboration under the Adwumawura Programme, a flagship initiative designed to support high-impact enterprises and job creation.
A key outcome of the discussions is the establishment of a dedicated Adwumawura Fund by the Venture Capital Trust Fund. The fund will focus on financing scalable and high-impact businesses emerging from the Adwumawura Programme, significantly improving access to patient capital for participating entrepreneurs.
According to NEIP, the proposed fund is expected to play a critical role in bridging the financing gap faced by early-stage and growth-oriented businesses, particularly those with strong employment and innovation potential.
Eric Adjei expressed appreciation to the management of the Venture Capital Trust Fund for their openness and continued partnership, noting that access to capital remains one of the most significant constraints to enterprise growth in Ghana.
The engagement marks another milestone in NEIP’s broader mandate to empower entrepreneurs, strengthen local businesses, and create sustainable livelihoods, using the Adwumawura Programme as a vehicle for inclusive economic growth.
The initiative also aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s RESET Agenda, which prioritises entrepreneurship, innovation, and private-sector-led growth as key drivers of economic transformation and youth employment in Ghana.
