BTA2023 In a significant leadership move, President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono as the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GHPA). His appointment marks a strategic decision aimed at strengthening Ghana’s port and maritime operations with seasoned leadership and expertise.
Brigadier General Tanye-Kulono is a distinguished military officer and legal professional with an impressive academic and professional background. Currently serving as the Deputy Commandant of the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) at Burma Camp, Accra, he brings a wealth of knowledge in military strategy, law, and international affairs.
He holds multiple academic qualifications, including a Master of Laws (LLM) in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the George Washington School of Law, a Master in Management Studies from Osmania University in India, and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the University of Ghana. Additionally, he was called to the Ghanaian Bar in 2015, further cementing his expertise in legal and regulatory frameworks.
Brigadier General Tanye-Kulono has undergone extensive military training, having completed programs at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the United States Army Command and Staff College, and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. These experiences have equipped him with a strong foundation in defense strategy, counterterrorism, and peacekeeping operations.
Throughout his career, he has held key leadership positions, including Chief Coordinator at NCDS, Assistant Commandant at the Training and Doctrine Command, and Deputy Director-General of Training at the Ghana Armed Forces General Headquarters (GHQ). His international experience includes serving as Deputy Force Provost Marshal and Officer in Charge of Special Investigations at the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) HQ, where he played a crucial role in peacekeeping and security operations.
With his extensive expertise in strategic defense management, operational training, and maritime security, Brigadier General Tanye-Kulono is expected to drive GHPA’s mission of enhancing Ghana’s port infrastructure, improving efficiency, and strengthening security within the nation’s maritime sector.
