Yagbonwura Applauds Bank of Ghana’s Economic Stewardship

The Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Jira Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, has commended the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Johnson Asiama, and his executive team for their effective leadership in safeguarding the stability of the national currency, the Ghanaian Cedi.

This praise was offered during a courtesy call by the Governor and the Bank’s Executive Management Team to the Yagbonwura, held as part of a broader stakeholder engagement campaign in the lead-up to the Cedi@60 anniversary, which is officially set to launch on August 8, 2025.

Traditional Leadership Welcomes Institutional Engagement

During the visit, the Yagbonwura expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Governor’s recognition of traditional authorities in national economic matters.

“Your visit signifies humility and recognition of the pivotal role traditional leadership plays in national development,” he remarked.

He further invoked blessings and divine favor for Dr. Asiama, praying for a successful tenure and the possibility of an additional term to continue strengthening Ghana’s economy.

Commendation for Currency Stability and Economic Resilience

Acknowledging the recent strides in macroeconomic stability, the Overlord lauded the Bank of Ghana’s bold economic decisions, which have contributed to the appreciation and stability of the Cedi.

“These efforts have not gone unnoticed,” said the Yagbonwura. “They offer hope to ordinary Ghanaians that stability and prosperity are attainable.”

He also pledged his support for the Bank’s policies and initiatives aimed at fostering inclusive growth and economic resilience.

Pride in the Cedi’s Legacy

The Yagbonwura expressed pride in the Ghanaian Cedi and its significant role in the country’s economic evolution, graciously accepting an invitation to attend the Cedi@60 anniversary launch in Accra.

He reaffirmed his belief in the long-term strength of the currency and the need to preserve its value as a symbol of national identity and pride.

In his remarks, Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama thanked the Yagbonwura for his warm hospitality, blessings, and continued support. He highlighted the Bank’s commitment to:
