BTA2023 The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Malik Basintale, has defended the agency’s decision to launch two separate mobile applications aimed at improving job access in Ghana.
Responding to public concerns on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Mr. Basintale explained that each app serves different purposes and targets specific job markets.
“The first app is specifically for artisans and skilled workers such as plumbers, carpenters, tailors, masons, and electricians. This platform will make it easier for individuals and businesses to connect with professionals, both locally and internationally,” he shared on Facebook.
Purpose of the Two Apps

Artisan Platform:
- Focus: Connects skilled workers with clients locally and abroad.
- Development: Built through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) where YEA provides trained artisans, and the private partner manages the platform.
- Impact: Expected to create over 100,000 jobs in the informal sector.

YEA Job Centre:
- Focus: Links job seekers with employers across various industries.
- Accessibility: Designed to be user-friendly, allowing anyone to search for jobs without technical knowledge.
Mr. Basintale also dismissed concerns about the financial burden on YEA, assuring the public that both platforms will operate at no cost to the agency.
The artisan app aligns with YEA’s broader vision to create job opportunities abroad, with a new directorate expected to launch in the coming days.
