Zenith Bank Ghana marked International Women’s Day on Friday, March 7, 2025, with its “Woman ‘2’ Woman” webinar, an initiative aimed at breaking barriers and fostering gender equality for women in personal and professional spaces.
The event, powered by the Bank’s Z-Woman lifestyle service, was held under the theme, “Accelerating Action: Addressing the Systemic Barriers and Biases That Women Face, Both in Personal and Professional Spheres.”
Empowering Women Through Resilience and Support
The keynote speaker, Mrs. Comfort Owusu, former Executive Director of the Association of Rural Banks, shared invaluable insights on gender inequality, women’s empowerment, and strategies for advancement. Drawing from her journey as a successful banker, mother, women’s advocate, and breast cancer survivor, she highlighted the importance of perseverance.
“Climbing the professional ladder is never a walk in the park, but resilience is key. Set your mind to never give up,” she advised.
Mrs. Owusu stressed the importance of balancing career, health, and family, urging women to prioritize well-being, manage time efficiently, and seek support when needed.
“Managing your time well and prioritizing health is crucial. Seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a strength. Supporting one another is key to lifting each other up,” she emphasized.
Challenging Biases and Creating Opportunities
She encouraged women to actively seek mentorship, build strong networks, and pursue continuous learning to enhance their professional growth. She also urged women to challenge biases by taking up leadership roles, advocating for equal opportunities, and creating inclusive environments where more women can thrive.
Zenith Bank’s Commitment to Women’s Empowerment
The Managing Director and CEO of Zenith Bank Ghana, Mr. Henry Onwuzurigbo, encouraged women to be bold in their aspirations and take decisive steps toward success.
“I encourage each of us to put today’s lessons into practice. Let’s create opportunities that accelerate progress, challenge biases, and champion fairness for women everywhere,” he stated.
He reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where women can lead, thrive, and succeed without limitations.
