AGCCI launched in Australia to strengthen economic ties

The Australian Ghana Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) was officially launched in Sydney with a spectacular cultural festival and crucial trade presentations, representing a significant step towards strengthening business relations between Ghana and Australia.
The program began with a vibrant performance by Ghana’s Salaka Dance Ensemble, who infused the gathering with traditional spirit and established the tone for the evening.
Bishop Richard Asamoah Boateng, President of the Chamber, began the ceremony with passionate words, emphasising the Chamber’s aim to foster economic partnerships, cultural exchanges, and investment opportunities between the two countries.
The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and the Australian Industry Group delivered incisive trade presentations that focused on common business opportunities.

 

Although Yoofi Grant, CEO of GIPC, was unable to attend in person, he sent a pre-recorded video address outlining important investment prospects in Ghana, focussing on agriculture, mining, and technology.
Mr. Terry Crotty, Regional Manager for the Australian Industry Group in New South Wales (NSW), outlined more opportunities for Australian businesses to engage in Ghana and enhance bilateral commerce.
Many political and diplomatic dignitaries sent words of goodwill to the event. H.E. Joe Tapera, the Dean of the African Diplomatic Group, led a delegation that offered a message of solidarity.

Hon. Charisma Kaliyanda, Member for Liverpool, sent video remarks, while Hon. Nathan Hagarty, Member for Leppington, delivered a live address, reaffirming Australia’s commitment to strengthening connections with Ghana.

Berenice Owen-Jones, who was unable to attend, sent a video expressing her support for the project, emphasising the importance of diplomacy in improving bilateral relations.
H.E. Samuel Yao Kumah, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Australia, delivered the keynote presentation and made a formal declaration of the launch.
His speech emphasised the AGCC’s role in building a thriving business environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and development between the two countries. H.E. Samuel Yao Kumah presented the Product Recognition Award, which was a highlight of the occasion.
The award recognised outstanding Ghanaian enterprises for their brilliance, with PGK Medicals and Gifty’s Ghana Kitchen being the happy winners.

Dr. Stephanie Fletcher-Lartey finished the program with a vote of thanks, expressing her appreciation to all guests, sponsors, and partners who helped make the launch a success. She emphasised the Chamber’s commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries.
The official launch of the Australian Ghana Chamber of Commerce symbolises the start of a new chapter in Ghana-Australia’s commercial partnership, with promising potential for both countries in the future.
