BTA2023 I expected some bold moves, but Burkina Faso keeps raising the bar! Their latest innovation? The country’s automobile manufacturer, ITAOUA, just launched their first set of 100% electric cars—and it’s nothing short of impressive!
Two models were unveiled at the launch: SAHEL and NATIVE. Pictures are below:
In just a few weeks, ITAOUA will open a new assembly plant in Ouagadougou to produce these cars locally. Here’s what you should get excited about when you buy one of these vehicles:

Just some few days back, I read here on LinkedIn a few outlines of improvements in Burkina Faso since President Ibrahim took leadership. Yoh, how do you pay off all internal debts, reject IMFs’ loan, implement major investments in agriculture, infrastructures etc and still sustain a healthy rise in your GDP?
I really don’t know what Burkinabés are feeding on right now, but it seems to be very nutritive. Burkina Faso is setting an example for African nations. To fellow African entrepreneurs: consider entering this promising market! And to Burkinabés, support your local products—buy these cars, use them, and promote them.
Now, before anyone mentions that these cars aren’t “100% locally built,” let me remind you: even Apple outsources manufacturing to China and India while designing in the U.S. Business is about strategy, not unnecessary 100% self-made back-pain. It’s still a Burkinabé brand, and it deserves our full support.
