BTA2023 Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Candidate, has emphasised the importance of digitalisation in Ghana’s economic independence.
Bawumia stated during the CitizenApp launch at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel on October 7, 2024, that digital progress is critical for moving the country into a thriving future.
“As the world enters the fourth industrial revolution, it is clear that no economic strategy will thrive without a solid digital base. In critical areas like public administration, trade, education, financial inclusion, and healthcare.”
Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, who joined Bawumia on stage, emphasised the CitizenApp’s transformative potential for guaranteeing transparency and accountability in government transactions.
“Tax administration is one of the key areas where the CitizenApp will make an immediate and profound impact,” he said, claiming that the app will revolutionise the field.
Adam clarified that the app will streamline the formerly difficult tax compliance procedure, which frequently required people and enterprises to visit offices and manage several systems. This will lead to a more effective revenue collecting approach.
“With the CitizenApp, all government transactions will be fully traceable and accountable,” declared Adam, underscoring the app’s significance in minimising financial mismanagement and corruption.
For a long time, individuals have encountered difficulties when attempting to interact with public services; this assurance is a relief.
According to the government, the CitizenApp would consolidate numerous government services, allowing users to pay taxes, apply for passports, renew drivers’ licenses, and pay utility bills all in one spot, resulting in a more seamless experience for all Ghanaians.
