A young boy from Tarkwa wins Presidential Pitch – Season 5, The Prez donated an additional GHC 50,000 cash prize
With his ground-breaking Smart Switch System, Namguima Samuel won over hearts in the Presidential Pitch – Season 5 competition.
This innovation serves as both a security-controlled communication system and an automated energy consumption control and remote task execution tool.
The distinguished Dr. John Kumah Prize for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, given by none other than President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was the cherry on top of his win.
Samuel did not have an easy path to this enormous accomplishment. Among the more than 300 applications from various fields, all fighting for the coveted GHC250,000 prize, he distinguished himself as one of the competition’s top 10 finalists.
The National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme (NEIP) and the Ministry of Finance organised the competition, which provided a forum for these up-and-coming leaders—among them Samuel—to present their ground-breaking concepts.
Ghana’s dedication to encouraging innovation was demonstrated by the event, which took place at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel.

Alongside Samuel, initiatives like the nation’s push towards sustainability and employment development were demonstrated with products like FreshLine, a wristwatch that monitors health, and synthetic wood materials manufactured from plastic waste and rice husks.
