The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has taken steps to address widespread concerns regarding the treatment of Ghanaian visa applicants at various foreign embassies and high commissions in Accra.
In response to numerous complaints from the public, the Ministry has engaged diplomatic missions over issues such as lack of proper waiting areas, inadequate emergency services, prolonged appointment delays, and challenges in accessing visa application websites.
A statement issued by the Ministry, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), confirmed that a Note Verbale had been sent to all embassies and high commissions, urging them to improve conditions at their premises and visa processing centers.
Call for Humane Treatment
The Ministry has emphasized the need for fair and dignified treatment of Ghanaian visa applicants, expressing hope that foreign missions will positively respond to the directive.
While acknowledging that embassies and high commissions have the sovereign right to determine visa approvals, the Ministry assured the public of its ongoing commitment to advocating for better conditions and streamlined processes.
The Ministry reaffirmed its stance on ensuring foreign missions comply with the requests outlined in the Note Verbale, while continuing efforts to improve the overall experience for Ghanaian travelers seeking visas.
